Creative Ways to Work with Vegetables

At Good Seasons, we appreciate the art of cooking and understand how important it is to create exciting, enticing meals. To help you discover new ways to work with vegetables, we’re sharing our ideas for preparing the perfect meal.

Bell Pepper Bundles and Stars

Bundles

  1. Remove and discard stem from red, yellow or orange bell pepper.
  2. Cut pepper in half lengthwise. Remove and discard the membranes and seeds.
  3. Cut the pepper halves into thin strips; set aside.
  4. Cut the tops from green onions; place the tops in boiling water about 10 seconds or until softened. Immediately rinse with cold water.
  5. Cut each green onion top lengthwise in half.
  6. Gather desired number of pepper strips into a bundle; wrap 1 onion strip around bundle, then tie into knot to secure.

Stars

  1. Use a small star cookie cutter or a small paring knife to cut strips of bell peppers into star shapes. You can also cut bell peppers lengthwise into thin strips, crosswise into rings, or chop them.
  2. Use as an ingredient or garnish in your savory dishes.

Carrot Curls

  1. Cut strips the length of the carrot using a vegetable peeler.
  2. Roll strips into curls; slide wooden toothpick through to hold shape. Let stand in ice water until ready to use.
  3. Remove wooden picks and toss carrot curls into your salad for extra color and crunch!

Green Onion Brushes and Curls

Brushes

  1. Remove roots and trim green tops from green onions.
  2. With a sharp knife cut white bulb ends and green tops lengthwise into thin slices, keeping center portions intact.

Curls

  1. Cut green onion into 4-inch sections.
  2. Cut 4-inch sections into thin slivers.
  3. Place in ice water until onions begin to curl (about 2 hours).
