Can I substitute Fat Free or Reduced Calorie GOOD SEASONS dressings in recipes calling for regular GOOD SEASONS?

Fat Free GOOD SEASONS can not be substituted for the regular product in any recipes involving heating (i.e., baking or cooking). However, it can be substituted when prepared dressing is called for in the recipe.

How long can I keep GOOD SEASONS once it has been prepared?

For optimum flavor, use within 3 to 4 weeks after preparing. Be sure to refrigerate product in a covered cruet or other closed container.

How long should I store my GOOD SEASONS Salad Dressing Mix? How can I tell if it has expired?

We code our products with something called a “code date.” This information is printed in one of two forms, either a “Julian Date” that looks like this: 6007A22, or a “Best When Used By” date that looks like this: JAN 07 2006.

The code date may be printed in two areas:

  • On individual packets, the code date can be found on the back panel of the envelope around the directions.
  • On CRUET KITS, the code date appears on the back panel, near the bottom.

For Julian Codes: this is the date the product was manufactured. An example of a Julian Code would be: 6003A22 In this example, the “6” designates the year (2006), the next three digits “007,” designate day number 7 of the 365 days possible. So we know this product was manufactured on January 7, 2006. We recommend that you consume your GOOD SEASONS product within 18 months of the Julian date, as long as the product has been stored in a cool, dry place before preparation.

For “Best When Used By” dates: this is the date by which the product should be consumed, given that it’s stored in a cool, dry place before preparation. An example of the "Best When Used By" date looks this: JAN 07 2006, and is read "Best When Used By January 7th, 2006.

My favorite variety of GOOD SEASONS Salad Dressing Mix is no longer available at my local grocery store. What happened?

From time to time we evaluate whether a product variety is popular with our consumers. Sometimes, there aren’t enough consumers buying this product to support its continued production. Of course if consumers become interested in a product variety, we will consider putting it back on the market.
