Employee Perspectives
Sr. Associate Brand Manager, Kraft Pizza Company
Kraft Foods was my first choice for an employer because of its reputation. On campus the company was well-known for its track record in building great General Managers. I knew that's where I wanted to be.
What makes brand management at Kraft Foods exciting is the brands themselves. They are world-class. And the quality speaks for itself. I get a lot of satisfaction from going into a store and seeing my work on the shelves. Everything we do impacts so many people across the country.
In the short time I have been with the company I have had exposure to a variety of brands and functions within the company. That's what is so great about brand management - the exposure you get to every aspect of running a business. In fact, brand management is like running a small company, but with the bonus of having financial backing, talent, and other resources behind you. I don't think you can get that kind of experience and opportunity in any other field.
So much of what I do is project oriented. The projects drive what I'm working on and the people I'm working with. For instance, I might need to visit one of our manufacturing plants to monitor the production of a new product. Or I might attend a Sales Planning meeting here at headquarters. Or I might be part of a product tasting in our test kitchens.
What's really fun about working in the Pizza Division is that the atmosphere is much like a small company. We've been breaking new ground, particularly with our Di Giorno Rising Crust pizza, and more recently our California Pizza Kitchen line of gourmet pizzas. It's very exciting to be a part of the development and growth of new products. And everybody loves pizza. It's great to work on a popular product like that!
That's one bonus about working for a great food company - working with the food products everyone loves to eat!
