Marketing Internship Experience
Brenda Balcazar,
2009 Kraft Marketing Intern
University of Toronto, Rotman School of Business
About the Marketing Intern role: “Over the summer I worked as a Marketing Intern in the Enhancers team (part of the Grocery sector), specifically in two challenging projects. For the first project I had to deliver a situation analysis and recommendation for a grocery brand including rational, financials and brand strategy in order to revitalize the business. As part of the project I had to meet with members of the cross-functional team in order to incorporate their perspective on the brand and the main issues and potential opportunities for growth. These meetings exposed me to the different areas of Kraft and gave me a better understanding of how the company works and the different processes in place. For my second project I had to develop a proposal for using digital media as part of the communication strategy of the Enhancers’ brands including formal presentations to the Enhancers Director and the Grocery sector VP. For this project I had to deal with large amounts of information -from my own research and provided by the media agency- and synthesize it in order to deliver the best proposal according to each brand’s target. What I most enjoyed about these projects is how they helped me develop different skill-sets, one being very strategic and analytical and the other oriented to information management and presentation.”
About the Kraft Experience: “As for my experience with the Kraft team, from day one everybody was very welcoming and made me feel part of the team; they truly live the Kraft values and are very open and inclusive! My experience with my manager was also very rewarding! She provided me direction for all my projects but at the same time gave me ownership and flexibility to structure and present it according to what I thought would be more adequate. She also pushed me to give my best and provided timely feedback that I could incorporate in my daily work. Besides my main projects, I was also invited to all the sector’s activities like marketing off-sites, company meetings and social events. Additionally, as part of the National Intern Program, I had the opportunity to participate and organize different activities with the rest of the interns, like a community event at the “Youth Without Shelter”, where we spend a day filled with great activities, fun games and great food! We also participated in several workshops where I learned more about the Kraft culture, corporate values and met Kraft’s executives from different areas who shared their experience and valuable insights about what they enjoy most about working at Kraft. Overall, my summer internship at Kraft was a great learning experience and convinced me that it is indeed a great place to work!”

Britney Fleischmann,
2009 Kraft Marketing
Intern
University of Western Ontario, Ivey School of
Business
About the Marketing Intern Role: “This summer I worked as a Marketing Intern at Kraft on the Kraft Dinner Brand – a truly amazing experience. Throughout the summer I worked on several interesting projects from creative packing designs to data project including an analysis of potential markets for KD and competitors within these markets. To successfully complete this project I had to pull and analyse raw data and draw implications based on my findings. I worked closely with my cross functional team in order to be able to comprehend all aspects of the brand and to better understand the data. Working on this project helped me to develop my analytical and presentation skills in addition to learning the ways in which the Kraft team operates.”
About the Kraft Experience: “The people and environment at Kraft are amazing – I was never afraid to ask a question, and I had plenty of them. I was more than surprised with the amount of independence that I had when working on projects – I actually led several on my own. I believe this is the most rewarding aspect of the internship program and it is something that not a lot of students are exposed to. One really phenomenal experience I had this summer was going to a commercial shoot for a KD Bold Snack Cups commercial that is airing now – every time I see it on TV I still get excited.”

Kelly Fleming,
2009 Kraft Marketing
Intern
University of Western Ontario, Ivey School of
Business
About the Marketing Intern role: “From day one of my summer marketing internship at Kraft Canada, I was immersed in value-added projects that had a direct impact on the Delissio Pizza business and the Kraft organization as a whole. Given the opportunity to work with a cross functional team of professionals, I was able to absorb their knowledge and expertise while delivering projects that demonstrated my skills. My manager not only supported and coached me through this learning experience but also worked with me to ensure I was taking ownership of my projects by being able to work on them autonomously. Not only did I develop and improve my marketing abilities through the internship program, but many of the skills I acquired can easily translate to any position in the future.”
About the Kraft Experience: The internship program is well rounded and flawlessly executed, allowing interns to participate in team building activities around Toronto, career panels, community events, and networking opportunities. I highly recommend this program to anyone who is looking for meaningful work alongside skilled professionals while being able to challenge yourself in an environment that fosters growth and learning. The people at Kraft are passionate about their business, the brands, and each other and throughout my internship I was inspired to enjoy my work and the culture.”

Sales Internship Experience
Stephanie Cooper,
2009 Kraft Sales Intern
HEC Montreal
About
the Sales Intern role:
‘I
learned so much over the course of four months! From building a good
customer relationship, to the launching of a new product and the many
promotions related to its launching, I discovered for myself all the theory
taught at school and I applied certain academic information to the field.
There is nothing better than a hands-on experience because I was given the
opportunity to really push myself and see the outcome of my own actions! By
giving me a wide variety of responsibilities, I felt trusted and all of my
efforts were recognized by my supervisors, which made my hard work
rewarding. In addition, working as a summer intern, I developed and expanded
my business knowledge. This experience allowed me to put into perspective
the many responsibilities and diverse tasks of a permanent sales rep. This
internship allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills, being able to be
self-sufficient, more resourceful and having better time management. I also
had the opportunity to attend conference-calls and group meetings, which
gave me a good idea of what working at Kraft is all about. Throughout the
summer, I had the chance to take part in a few team building activities. I
believe this is a great way to let fellow workers interact together and
create bonds outside of the work field. Once again, this goes to show that
every person who works for Kraft is treated with integrity.”
About the Kraft Experience: “I absolutely loved my experience this summer with Kraft! Right from the start, everyone made me feel very welcomed and at ease at work. The saying that ‘Kraft is one big family’ is really true! Kraft’s values are applied by all the employees I have met and I believe that’s what makes a difference about loving what you do and respecting the people and the company you work for. To conclude, my internship was a learning experience like none other and I am extremely looking forward to pursue my career with Kraft after my studies!”

Vickie
Brunet,
2008-2009 Kraft Sales Intern
University of Ottawa
About the Sales Intern role: “It was my second summer working for Kraft as a sales intern in the region of Ottawa. Working for Kraft was an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to learn the many sides of sales and also the chance to get a better understanding of how the food business works in different grocery chains. This summer, I had the chance to work on specific projects for Kraft. My biggest project was to create a presentation on Back to School that I presented to the Ottawa sales team. Back to School is one of the busiest times of the year in the food business. I learned how this busy time affects sales in the different product categories.''
About the Kraft Experience: ''Kraft is a great employer. They believe in the abilities and the knowledge of their employees. Kraft trusts their summer interns. They invest a lot of time and effort in us because they want us to succeed and have a great experience while we are working for them. My highlight this second summer was going to the Kraft national intern event in Toronto. At that event, I had the chance to meet interns from across Canada and I had the opportunity to build relationships with fellow coworkers that were working in my field. While visiting the Lakeshore Plant in Toronto, I was amazed by the complex process of baking cookies and crackers! I recommend Kraft as an employer because they will help you reach your goals and they will make sure that you get the best experience possible!”

Finance Internship Experience
Shayam Jeyaratnam, 2009 Kraft
Finance Intern
University of Toronto, Scarborough
About the Finance Intern role: “As a summer intern at Kraft, I had the privilege of working alongside some of the most competent and talented individuals in the industry. At first, the experience was slightly daunting and overwhelming especially with the numerous acronyms and products, but with the support and encouragement of my team in Operations Finance, I was able exceed expectations and blossom into a valuable team member. Since day one, I was treated as a member of the team, given real work, real responsibility and the opportunity to make a valuable contribution.”
About the Kraft Experience: “The Kraft Internship Program is truly in a class of its own and has done wonders for my personal development. The program provides students with opportunities to network with senior management, develop leadership skills, gain a solid understanding of the Consumer Product Goods industry, and receive invaluable career advice. For me, the most memorable moment was playing games and interacting with the youth from Youth Without Shelter as part of the internship program. Seeing Kraft’s commitment to social responsibility and employee development has only reaffirmed my interest in working for this wonderful organization. I look forward to returning to Kraft full-time in April and help the organization continue making a difference in people’s lives’. I assure you, the Kraft Internship Program is an experience of a lifetime and you will be sure to enjoy every moment of it”

Foodservice Internship Experience
Key Cheung,
2008-2009
Kraft Foodservice Intern
York University, Schulich School of Business
About the Foodservice Intern role: “I had the privilege of spending two summers within the Foodservice Division of Kraft Canada. I spent my first summer at head office learning about the foodservice industry and the different teams that make this division a success. I worked on several top-line projects that laid the foundation and liaisons for my second summer internship at the downtown sales office. I had the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained from my first to my second internship. I was assigned challenging projects which required working closely with many of my colleagues so that I could draw on their expertise and experience. I appreciated that my manager had great faith and confidence in me to complete the tasks without much supervision but was readily available to assist if I needed help.”
About the Kraft Experience: ''One of the key highlights this summer was to lead and organize a full day community event for my fellow interns at Youth Without Shelter. It was a meaningful, eye-opening and fun-filled experience for everyone. The youth were friendly and quickly developed a bond with all the interns. The support I received for this event demonstrated Kraft’s social conscience and commitment to giving back to the community. I have acquired skills over the last two summers that will be carried forward into my final year of study. I strongly believe that these skills have formed a solid foundation for my future career. My experience with Kraft has been nothing less than amazing – the people and the culture are the framework of this company. These past two summers at Kraft have solidified my passion for sales and marketing. They reinforce my identification of Kraft as my top-choice employer.”

Veronique Peloquin,
2009 Kraft
Foodservice Intern
Ryerson University
About the Foodservice Intern Role: “My summer at Kraft was nothing short of fantastic! As a Foodservice intern, I got hands-on experience in my field and the chance to meet incredible individuals who were great mentors to me. I worked on a variety of projects in several different areas of the foodservice department while still having one big project to call my own. My internship included developing a customer marketing presentation, going on sales call in the Quebec region and translating marketing material. I even had a key role in choosing new departmental logos and changing the current French versions! That is why Kraft is so great – even though you are an intern, you have the chance to leave your mark and a lasting impression in the company. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the fruit of your labor launched into the marketplace!”
About the Kraft Experience: “Another nice feature of the Kraft head office is how approachable everyone is. I do not know of many companies where you can have lunch with the President or your Vice-President! Kraft’s internship program is also unique in that you meet a number of other talented interns with whom you participate in activities and organize a community event. There is nothing like watching a Blue Jays game from the Kraft suite with a group of amazing people! So, if you are looking for a valuable work experience with a great company who cares about its employees, Kraft is for you!”
